General information:
Most of the shops are open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, with many of them closing earlier on Saturday (about 2 p.m.). Some of the big department stores are open until 8 p.m. for late shoppers (Tesco hypermarkets are open non-stop.-Prague 2x, Brno, Ostrava). Most stores are closed on Sundays with the exception of the big department stores and various gift and clothing shops in the centre of Prague.
Shops by scale:
- Prague super malls (opened Monday - Sunday):
OC Palladium (MAP, WEB), OC Novy Smichov (MAP, WEB), Centrum Chodov (MAP, WEB)
- Shopping gallery - department store My (Tesco, Národní třída)
- Food supermarkets - Large scale: Tesco, Interspar, Globus, Kaufland, ...
- Medium scale: Billa, Albert, Lidl, Norma, Coop, Penny Market, ...
- Smaller scale: There are hundreds of small local shops providing a wide range of goods. The phenomenon of recent years is the growth of small, well located stores ran by Vietnamese business people. The advantage of such stores is the late opening hours and one can often find bargains cheaper than in the branded supermarkets.
